Arba’in (The 40th Day of Imam Hossein’s (Pbuh) Martyrdom Anniversary)

And now, O’ Hossein, commemoration of your revolution from Ashura up to Arba’in makes the world pay attention to the message of the resurrection. Ashura is martyrdom day of the history makers and Arba’in is pilgrimage day of Ashura makers.
Pilgrimage of Imam Hossein’s first pilgrims and returning of Imam’s descendants to the martyrs’ shrine was a reasonable excuse for establishment of “Ashura mourning.”
40 consecutive days, from Ashura up to Arba’in, is the yearly and national ceremony of aversion announcement from oppressors of the history. These 40 days are a suitable opportunity for people to develop the love of Hossein (Pbuh) and hate his murderers, in their hearts. They must teach these to their children and transfer greatness of Ashura to each era and generation.
Arba’in philosophy shows itself, and we can teach martyrdom lesson from this class and prepare ourselves in order to help our master Hazrat-e Mahdi (May God hasten his reappearance).

IMAM KHOMEINI’S WORDS ON MUHARRAM MONTH

 

  • “Muharram is a month in which justice has raised against the injustice and it has proved that as far as the history is concerned, Justice has always been  the conqueror.”
  • “Muharram is a month which has been revived by the Lord of warriors for the faith and the Muslim martyrs and was freed from the plots of the immoral men of Banni Omayyeh which put Islam in the threshold of decadence.”
  • “This is the blood of the Lord of Martyrs (Imam Hosein) which can stir the blood of all of the Islamic nations.”
  • “Muharram is the month of the great movement of the Lord of the martyrs and also of the God’s Saints, who has taught the mankind the way of one’s purification and state of being strong , through his raising against the tyrant . He considered sacrifice as the way which would lead to decadence of the tyrant and defeat of any dictators. The point which is the highlight of the Islamic educational affairs for all nations forever.
  • “With the initiation of the month of Muharram, [in fact], the month of bravery and sacrifice started. The month during which the blood conquered the sword.”
