June 3, 1989 ( Khordad 14, 1368)

Hazrat-e Imam Khomeini, who was the shining sun of the
Islamic world, the shining star of the world of mysticism
and also the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, passed
away in the evening of June, 2, 1989 (Khordad 12, 1368)
with so many years of campaign for the manifestation of
Islam among the Islamic societies as well as the international
ones and the constant challenge with the Global Arrogance,
behind him. By his heart-rending demise, the Islamic world
began to mourn for his loss and the brave nation of Iran who
was always ready to obey her leader lost a very kind and
sympathetic father. So, they put on the black clothes and
cried tears, which were like flood and through their presence
in the ceremony, made the world, see how they were faithful
to their leader. They also showed that even in spite of Imam’s
loss they would continue their holy movement.

In awake of Imam Khomeini’s sad demise, the first
statement on his demise was released by the late
Hoj. Ahmad Khomeini (his honorable son) to inform
the people. The statement read:

 “Truly we are from God and we will return to him. The
elevated soul of the leader of all of the Muslims and
the leader of those free thinking people, Hazrat-e Imam
Khomeini flew to the divine World of above and his heart
which was full of love toward Allah and also toward his
right-doer servants who suffered a lot, stopped beating.
O, God! Now the lover servant of Thy has flown toward
Thy divine kingdom and the stormy state of his sea-like
heart turned out to be calm and settled through reaching
the shore of Thy closeness. However; Thee better know
that such a great loss has led to a storm in all of the hearts
like the one caused by the Holy Prophet (SW)’s loss and
just through Thy kindness there would be healing
replacement for this massive loss”.

Following this, the officials released a statement:

“ Last night a shining sun set which could warm and
encourage the hearts of the Muslims all around the
world. Last night, the most illuminating divine star of
the current Islamic world after the Promising Imam
Mahdi (Pbuh), darkened and the star stopped shining
with whom the hearts of all of the Muslims around the
world used to beat. Last night a glorious light was darkened
which threw some lights on the thoughts of hundreds of
millions of the Muslims who were the true lovers all around
the world. Last night this great soul started his divine journey
who under shadowed the souls of the universal nation of Islam
and the true lovers of the Islamic ideology got energy and
learned about sincerity, mysticism and the Holy War (Jihad).
Last night, one of the most out standing figures after the prophets
and innocent Imams, who was the brave man in the battle field,
the symbol of mysticism and sincerity, the crystallization of
piousness, the most decisive figure on standing against
injustice and cruelty, an exclusive model, trained in the
Islamic ideology left this world and the beating heart of
the Islamic nation of the world stopped beating…”

In the awake of Imam’s demise, the one who was the
greatest leader of the century, not only the Iranian
nation began to mourn but also the Muslims of the
world. Millions of mourning people who were Imam’s
lovers gathered together in Tehran’s great Mosalla
(A place for Friday prayers) on June 4

(Khordad 15) to say the last farewell to their honorable
leader. During this sad ceremony, which was the
greatest of its kind, the people were restless and
were mourning through sighs.

Finally, during a historic gathering which appeared to
be an exclusive one as well, started in the morning of
June 5(Khordad 16) after saying the Dead Prayer, guided
by the late Ayatollah Golpayegani, the Muslim nation of Iran,
while, being so sad, took part in the funeral ceremony and
after a several- hour- delay, due to the crowd, the Holy body
of Imam was finally buried in Behesht-e Zahra Cemetery at
16: 30 P.M. His thumb turned out to be a place for gathering
the Islamic republic of Iran’s true lovers.

It is obvious that independence, guidance, freedom of the
Holy Qods and the Two Holy Shrines (Medina and Mecca),
were among Imam’s goals.

However; it seems that to him the realization of all goals
even justice which he believed,  accounted for all prophets’
movements and he considered it as the criterion of righteousness
of the religion, was achievable through returning to Islam.

“ Our honorable Imam was the manifestation of the
revolutionary version of Islam. The pure version of Islam was
obvious from his manner, feelings, at the time of making decision,
and in knowing that one is mortal. He was the manifestation of the
divine path. God the Almighty bestowed him the reward. The task
which was done by this noble man was the one, which was never
done before except the Holy prophets.”
